This series of illustrations began in 2006, following a period of intense media coverage of knife-violence amongst youth, and connections made in the House of Commons to the hooded sweatshirt.

Prime Minister David Cameron capitalised on this association by launching his 'Hug a Hoodie' campaign, which attempted to present a softer more compassionate Conservativism to the mainstream public. Meanwhile, cuts to education and youth programming, particularly in London, had never been so ruthless.
